LMV stands for Light Motor Vehicle. This license includes a commercial and personal vehicle like jeep, taxis, motorcars, delivery vans, pickup, rickshaw and other types of commercial and private vehicles.
LMV-NT stands for LMV- Non-Transport. This is the most common license issued in India is to drive non-transport vehicles. LMV-NT license is used to drive cars SUV, sedan, mini, micro etc.
LMV-TR stands for LMV – Transport. LMV-TR license is for driving vehicles for commercial purpose – taxis, auto rickshaw and other transport vehicles.
Now take a look at the Definition of LMV as per MV Act 1988: “Light Motor Vehicle” means a transport vehicle or omnibus the gross vehicle weight of either of which or a motor car or tractor or road-roller the unladen weight of any of which, does not exceed 7500 kilograms”.
It means that a tractor or road-roller can also come under the definition of LMV!
