The Swadeshi Movement (7th August, 1905) had encouraged handloom weavers. In 2015, the Government of India decided to celebrate 7th August every year, as the National Handloom Day.
The Government of Telangana has introduced the Nethanna Beema Scheme, under which over 80, 0000 handloom and power loom weavers will get 5,00,000 lakh rupee free life insurance i.e., the family of the deceased weaver will receive Rs. 5 lakhs. The amount will be credited into the bank account of the family member within 10 days of the death of the weaver.
Weavers between 18 and 59 years are eligible for the scheme. Claims are settled by the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). The Handlooms and Textiles department of Telangana is the nodal agency for implementation.
Insurancepe honours our handloom-weaving community and highlight their contribution for the development. For any help / guidance for Nethanna Beema Scheme please feel free to contact.
